• Gmail email client displays an “unsubscribe” link.  This link enables people to unsubscribe without having to hunt within the email itself for the unsubscribe link which is typically buried at the bottom of the email.  When the user clicks on the “unsubscribe” link, then Gmail notifies us to unsubscribe the person from the emailing list.

  • iOS 10 also displays it in it’s native email client

Here are the updated rules:

  1. If the email was from a regular campaign, an A|B campaign or a recurring campaign:
    • If the campaign was targeted to a list(s), then unsubscribe the contact only from those lists that the campaign was targeted to.
    • If the campaign was targeted to a segment that included the "In List" segment rule, then unsubscribe the contact from that list.
  2. If the email was from a Journey campaign, then unsubscribe the contact from that Journey and his flow through that Journey stops at that campaign.
  3. If the email was a non-branded transactional email, then add to the general DNM list.
  4. If the email is a branded transactional email, then add to the Brand DNM list for that brand only.
  5. This does NOT unsubscribe the contact from all the lists.
  6. This also does NOT mark this as a spam complaint.
