Dynamic content is content within an email that changes based on the viewer. As people match the criteria you've set for your dynamic content (like industry, job title, or even a product purchased), a variety of content will display that is relevant to the viewer.
Example: You wish to send a campaign to different segments (i.e. Male/Female) and you want to send the same content to both segments, but with a slight difference in the content. The original content has the text ‘Sales for Males’ but you want the text to display ‘Sales for Females’ when it is sent to a female segment. This is the perfect time to use Dynamic Content.
To use dynamic content, please follow these steps:
1. In order to use dynamic content, go to the Content Creation page and select the place in the content where you want dynamic content to appear. Click on the ‘Dynamic Content’ tab in the editor to display a variety of dynamic content and tags.
2. When you click ‘Dynamic Areas’, a pop-up box will appear. You will be given an option to give names to different dynamic tags. You will also see two content editor windows, the top one is the ‘Original Content Preview’ and the bottom one is for the dynamic content. There is a drop down menu from where you can select a segment, as dynamic content recipients will be based on the segment.
3. Once saved, a tag will be generated at the place where you wanted the dynamic content. In case you want to edit the dynamic content, highlight the dynamic tag and then click on the ‘Dynamic Content’ tab, which will take you to the same page where you created the dynamic content.
4. You can also use the same tag from ‘Dynamic Areas’ tab in the content editor.
