If you are using your own warehouses to store and ship your products, then you can set up Inventory Locations for keeping track of quantity in stock.
You can set one or more Inventory Location(s) for a Product. For each product SKU, you will set the quantity of the SKU at each specified Inventory Location.
NOTE: Before setting up multiple Inventory Locations, consider the check list below. If any of the criteria is "No", then multiple Inventory Locations is not appropriate for you to use.
- Do you have locations or places where inventory is stocked?
- Are you using flat-rate shipping or charging the same shipping rates from all locations?
- Do you ship online orders from either one or multiple locations?
- Are product prices the same at all locations?
If you are using multiple inventory locations, then you will set up each of the locations where your product inventory is stored and the quantity of each product SKU at each location. Maropost for Commerce will automatically select the inventory locations for your product taking into account the inventory locations' priority order and whether all line items from the same sales order can be fulfilled from the same location.
NOTE: You are responsible to know whether or not any of your inventory locations are applicable for sales tax calculation.
Create an Inventory Location
Mouse over your user name in the top right corner of the main navigation bar. Then, select Settings from the Settings menu. Select Locations on the left hand nav bar. Click the [+New Store Location] button.
Allocating Product Inventory per Location
Once you've created the different Inventory Locations, you will assign the quantity per location in the Product settings.
