You can use the SMS lists to manage your SMS contacts. The SMS Contacts index page is where you can create new SMS lists and manage the existing ones. To access the page, in Navigation, go to AUDIENCE, and then select SMS Contact Lists.
Create a new SMS List
To create a new SMS list, click the New SMS List button on the SMS Contacts index page and enter the list name in the New SMS List dialog box.
Adding Contacts into an SMS List
You can add contacts into an SMS list either by manually adding each contact or by importing contacts into the list.
Manually Add Contacts
To manually add individual contacts, click the [Contact] icon under the Action column. This opens the contacts page where you can see all the contacts in the list. On this page, click New Contact and then on the add your contact's information.
You can import contacts into your SMS list by uploading the contacts from both the desktop and the opt-in forms. There are two import options available: Automatic Import and Manual Import.
SMS contact information can be automatically added from the same opt-in forms that users fill in for email, using the SMS API.
To import contacts manually, perform the following steps:
- On the SMS Contacts index page, from the Action column, click the [Import] icon for the list into which you want to import the contacts.
- On the Import Contacts dialog box, click the Select a File button, select the file from your desktop, and then click 'Next.'
📋 Note: You can import a file of CSV or TXT format. To see a sample of what formatting is required for CSV, download a sample file by clicking Example.
- Map the column from your file to the Phone Number field.
Optional Mappings: You can also map a column in your file to the Subscribed field and the UID field. To map a subscription status, the proper values for this field are either 'S' for 'Subscribed' or 'U' for 'Unsubscribed.'
- Select the options to Import New Contacts and/or to Update Existing Contacts.
- Click Import.
When the import is finished, you’ll receive an alert in the Notifications panel.
Manage Do Not SMS List
If there are any contacts who have replied STOP ALL to any of your SMS campaigns, they will be added to your Do Not SMS List, and will not receive SMS campaigns from you again. To access or manage your Do Not SMS List, click your username in the top-right corner, and navigate to Account from the drop-down menu. Here you will be able to import or export contacts to your Do Not SMS List. Clicking on 'Manage' will allow you to view the individual mobile numbers that are present in this list.
