A Report Spam page enables your contacts to report an email as spam. You can use the Preference Management feature to create a Report Spam page which can then be included in the footer of your email campaign.
The Canadian Anti-Spam Law (CASL) requires that you include the following pieces of information in each campaign you send:
- Your name and/or company name
- Physical mailing address
- Contact information
- An unsubscribe mechanism
Reporting spam is a part of the unsubscribe mechanism that contacts can use to file a complaint/ abuse if they receive any unwanted emails. Upon choosing to report spam, the contact is added to the Do Not Mail list of an account and the status of the contact becomes ‘Complained’. When a contact is added to the Do Not Mail list, they do not receive any further communication from the account until the contact email is removed from this list.

Creating a Report Spam Page
Perform the following steps to create a Report Spam Page:
- In the Navigation, go to AUDIENCE, and then select Preference Management.
- On the Preference Management index page, click the New Preference Page button.
- Fill out the fields on the left side of the page to provide the preference page details.

- Name – Enter a name for your preference page.
- Page Type – Select Report Spam from the drop-down list.
- Redirect the Contact to a Thank You Page After the Form is Submitted – Select a Thank You page to which the contacts will be redirected after the Report Spam page is submitted. By default, Maropost's default Thank You page is selected.

- Design your subscription page on the right side of the page by using the editor tools or by editing the HTML code in the source.
📋 Note: The page must have {{report_spam.form}} tag. The tag is replaced with the form on which your contacts can confirm whether or not to report spam. - Click Save Page.
Using a Report Spam Page
When creating a custom footer (see Footer Management), you can select the Report Spam Page that you created using the Preference Management feature.
